The Good Life

I couldn't resist posting this picture of Cricket. After many rainy days, we finally had some sun this weekend... and where there is sunshine, you'll find Cricket sunbathing. He LOVES to be in the sun. He'll sit on the deck with his eyes closed, just soaking it in. Or he'll sprawl out in the grass and literally sunbath. In our old apartment, we had a 'sun room' and during the summer it was his favorite place to be. He's even been known to sleep on the arm of the couch, just to catch the light coming from the lamp. Tonight, as I drove to the grocery store, I noticed its staying lighter longer now. Fall used to be my favorite time of year, not only because of the Fair and candy corn, but because you 'gained' an hour. But I got to thinking today... I might take a lesson from my dog and love the sunshine. So bring on Spring and 'losing' an hour. If it means more sunshine, I love it!

More birth control and a sad good bye

What an action packed week we had! Following our Manic Monday (see post below), we had an equally crazy Tuesday. It started with paying off my Honda Civic!!! Submitting that last payment online was probably one of my most memorable moments. It may sound weird, but for someone who has totally changed her thought process on saving & spending money, not having a car payment is AWESOME. We'll now take that payment and roll it into paying off our Honda CR-V (in the hope of paying it off by next year).

Then, we ended the night by babysitting my favorite nephew Riley. I can honestly say, he is the BEST baby I have ever watched. I think Sampson, their dog, was more work than Riley!

The week ended on a sad note though... some good friends of ours, Matt and Steph, are moving to San Diego at the end of the month. So we got together Friday night to bave a little going away party for them. We ate some great food, then played Taboo (where, once again, the ladies lost). We are going to miss them a TON.

OH! And on Saturday, I attended the first of four babies showers I have in the next 3 weeks... talk about some more birth control. Ha!Ha!

Riley is a big boy at 5 months... my arms ached for 2 days from holding him!!!

It took more effort to get Sampson asleep than Riley :)

Matt and Steph, we are going to miss you so much!!!

Just another manic Monday...

I was talking with my co-worker and good friend Yvonne today about how I felt I haven't had anything good to blog about recently - to which she responded, there's ALWAYS something good to blog about! (She's my blogging hero...)

So, as we sat in traffic on the way home, I got to thinking about all the things that happened today that I was grateful for...

1. I'm grateful my father-in-law's heart surgery was a success and he's back home, resting.
2. I'm grateful that my jeans fit this morning, right out of the dryer! No lunges needed!!
3. I'm grateful that I like my job AND I'm good at it - a rare combo.
4. I'm grateful I'm almost caught up on laundry. (Does anyone else get really far behind??)

Bruin also has a few things he's grateful for today:
1. He, too, is grateful that his Dad is doing well.
2. He's grateful that giving his wife a fantastic kiss can buy him 30 more minutes of playing Xbox.

Well, I must go start dinner. I hope everyone has a fantastic week and thinks about all the things they are grateful for, big or small.

What can Cricket do in 6 minutes?

Destroy a perfectly good stuffed animal...

In his defense, with Bruin and I being off from work for almost 2 weeks, he hadn't spent more than an hour in his kennel. So yesterday was a hard day for him (and us for that matter... 6:30 came WAY too early). The victim was a cute stuffed animal his friend Barkley gave him for Christmas. Poor thing had no chance...

Happy 2008!!!

New Years Day is bitter sweet for me... it was 5 years ago today that I lost my grandmother to cancer. She was my best friend and I miss her dearly. But exactly a year later, God blessed me with Bruin and now he's my best friend and I love him dearly. God never replaces the lost things in our lives - instead, he opens new parts of our heart we never knew we had.
I wish everyone a Happy New Year - filled with good health and lots of happiness.
